More funds to repair damaged bridges: Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., during Tuesday’s plenary debate November 15, 2022, on the proposed P737.3 billion 2023 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), asks the department’s budget on rebuilding all public infrastructure projects that were damaged by the natural calamities like typhoons and earthquakes. Revilla, as chairperson of the Committee on Public Works, visited some parts of Visayas and Mindanao not only to give assistance to the affected families but also to inspect public infrastructures, particularly bridges that were damaged by the recent typhoon Paeng. “The P130 million released by DPWH from its Quick Response Fund (QRF) for the repair of 8 bridges in Maguindanao is not enough, more funds must be provided for the total rehabilitation of the bridges in the soonest time possible,” Revilla pointed out. He likewise assured the DPWH, together with the Finance Committee Chairperson Sen. Sonny Angara, that funds will be made available. Angara said the DPWH estimated P2.3 billion actual damages brought by typhoon Paeng and already released P1 billion from the agency’s QRF to address the damages. (Bibo Nueva España/Senate PRIB)
