On just compensation: Sen. Raffy Tulfo presses officials of DMCI Project Developers, Inc. whether the property developer already paid just compensation for a contested lot that has been a subject of a labor case filed with the National Labor Relations Commissions and later on in the Supreme Court. During the resumption of the Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development hearing on the timely enforcement of judicial decisions on labor disputes, Tulfo asked DMCI officials what process the company follows when it comes to settlements. “If there’s already settlement decision, what happens next? Shouldn’t it be that the board of directors would put into vote before the settlement pushes through?” Tulfo asked, Wednesday, November 29, 2023. In response, Atty. Basilio Gascon, Jr., Corporate Counsel of DMCI Project Developers, Inc., said they already complied with the court decision and paid Rebueno and that they already asked the permission of their treasurer before the actual settlement pushes through. The lawyer insisted that DMCI already paid petitioner Lilio Rebueno P1.9 million just compensation as ordered by the High Tribunal. However, Rebueno denied he received such compensation from the property developer. (Bibo Nueva España/Senate PRIB)
