Win pitches for 'National Reading Month': Sen. Win Gatchalian leads discussion on Senate Bill No. (SBN) 475 proposing the institutionalization of the month of November as "National Reading Month." Presiding over the Committee on Basic Education's hearing on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, Gatchalian said the measure aims to enhance the culture of reading in the Philippines following 2018 findings indicating Filipino students' low reading proficiency, and worsening learning poverty. "This month will be a symbol that the government is very serious in pushing the culture of reading in our country," Gatchalian said.
