Lagging behind in FDI: Deputy Majority Floor Leader Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito says he recognizes the need to stimulate economic growth in the country as well as to provide more jobs and opportunities for the people. During the first public hearing on proposals to amend certain economic provisions of the 1987 Constitution Monday, February 5, 2024, Ejercito noted that the Philippines is lagging behind in Direct Foreign Investment (FDI). He said the Constitution was written 40 years ago when globalization was not a household name and the world has considerably changed over the years. “What we should be looking at right now is how we will be able to improve the lives of our people, how we will be able to attract foreign investors,” Ejercito said. FDI refers to the ownership stake in a foreign company or project made by an investor, company or government from another country. (Bibo Nueva España/Senate PRIB)
