Increased income for Bulacan LGUs: Sen. Grace Poe explains the revenue sharing and incentives that cities will receive if they will become part of the proposed Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport in Bulacan. Poe, sponsor of Senate Bill No. 2572, explained Monday, March 4, 2024, that infrastructure will greatly improve in the area and local government units would continue to collect property taxes within their jurisdiction in the economic zone. “Not only will their income become bigger, it will become ten times bigger than what they normally would have…it doesn’t take much of a study to realize that locators as well as the downstream effect of a development like this will be invaluable in terms of the income generated for the local government,” Poe explained during the interpellation period on the bill. According to her, local government units will have a share on the total revenue of the economic zone, which is equivalent to 40 percent, aside from their normal income from permits and taxes.
