Escudero extols Zubiri: Newly-installed Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero extols his predecessor Sen. Juan Miguel “Migz” F. Zubiri for his achievements he accomplished, including reforms he instituted in the Senate, in his more than two years as the chief of the institution. Escudero, who had just taken his oath as the new Senate President Monday, May 20, 2024, thanked Zubiri for his patience, diligence, and his love for the country and the Senate as an institution. "My hats off to you, Senate President Zubiri. I salute you and I hope I will make you proud. You especially among all our other colleagues and hopefully, you will not leave my side whenever I ask for guidance, whenever I ask for help and whenever I ask for your wisdom," Escudero said. Escudero stressed that under his leadership, there will be no division as he would look at each senator as a member of one Senate. Sen. Mark Villar, the youngest senator, administer Escudero’s oath, who was accompanied by his wife actress Heart Evangelista. (Mark Pimentel/Senate PRIB)
