Closer Philippines-Sweden Ties: On 11 June 2024, Senate President Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero met with Swedish Ambassador Annika Thunborg who congratulated the Senate President on his election and apprised him on the growing defense cooperation between the Philippines and Sweden. She also expressed the strong interest of Swedish companies to invest in the Philippines while the Senate President assured her of the Philippine Senate’s commitment to improve the country’s investment climate. They also discussed the need for reform in the United Nations and the state of international geopolitics where they both agreed on the importance of alliances and the ability to quickly adapt to an ever-changing world.
