Re: Murder of Filipino seamen by Houthi rebels in the Middle East

I condemn in the strongest possible terms the deplorable acts of terrorism by Houthi rebels which resulted in the murder of two Filipino crewmen and caused injuries to two others. Filipinos are peace-loving people and the Philippines is not a party to the conflict afflicting the Middle East. There is thus no reason, other than sheer evil, for the Houthi rebels to murder our countrymen.

I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of those who were mercilessly killed in the attack and I call upon the Department of Migrant Workers to give the victims and their families all possible assistance they deserve under the law.

Re: Pagpatay sa mga Filipino seamen ng Houthi rebels sa Gitnang Silangan

Kinokondena ko ang mga kasuklam-suklam na gawaing terorismo ng mga Houthi rebels na nagresulta sa pagpatay sa dalawang kababayan nating seamen at pagkasugat ng dalawa pang tripulante. Peace-loving ang mga Pinoy at ang Pilipinas ay hindi kasali sa tunggalian na nangyayari sa Gitnang Silangan. Kaya wala talagang dahilan para patayin ng mga Houthi rebels ang ating mga kababayan kundi dahil lang sa kanilang kasamaan.

Taos-puso akong nakikiramay sa pamilya at mga kaibigan ng mga walang-awang pinatay na mga Pinoy at nananawagan ako sa Department of Migrant Workers na ibigay ang lahat ng posibleng tulong sa mga biktima at kanilang mga kapamilya na nararapat ayon sa ating batas.
