Keeping an open mind: Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri says he is keeping an open mind on the construction of waste-to-energy facilities in the country since he has seen a lot of facilities abroad that have complied with stringent clean energy emission during his travels. “Our problem is this: We are a growing population. In the Philippines, we are growing at a rate of 2.3 percent per annum. So, if you compute that, we might be about 120 million in the next few years. That translates to a lot of trash. I’m keeping an open mind as long as the plants being build will comply with a very stringent emission testing and the percentage of air quality will comply with the Clean Air Act,” Zubiri said during the sponsorship of Senate Bill No. 1789 or the Waste-to-Energy Act Monday, September 21, 2020.
