Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs hearing: Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa leads a hybrid hearing of the Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs looking into several measures seeking to streamline the process for admission of drug dependents in government drug rehabilitation centers and proposals to institutionalize anti-drug abuse councils in provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays. According to Dela Rosa, the persistence of the illegal drug problem in the country emphasized the need to ensure that all sectors are involved in battling the problem, from the provincial down to the barangay level. “We need to fight this problem on all fronts with integrated health responses, the supply and demand, community involvement on prevention and rehabilitation of drug users, continuous law enforcement operations, and the possible reimposition of the death penalty for big-time drug traffickers,” Dela Rosa said Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
