Harmonizing the solo parent database: Sen. Risa Hontiveros asks former journalist and nominee Erwin Tulfo on how he plans to harmonize the solo parent registry during the Commission on Appointments (CA) hearing on his ad interim appointment as the Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Hontiveros, who was the principal author of the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act, pointed out there were two government databases at present – the Listahanan data of the DSWD and the records of the community-based monitoring system of the local government units – and hoped that these records would be consolidated as soon as possible. “Is it possible for the DSWD to consolidate these records by the second quarter of next year so that the solo parents would be able to reap the benefits as provided by the Solo Parents Act?” Hontiveros asked Tulfo in Filipino. Tulfo, in response, assured Hontiveros that he’ll be prodding the Department of Interior and Local Government to provide them a copy of their database before the end of first quarter of next year.
