Mindanao Indigenous Peoples’ Assembly: Five indigenous cultural communities of Mindanao, namely the Ata, Matigsalog, Obu-Manuvu, Diangan and the Bagobo, adopted Senator Loren Legarda as “Bae Matumpis,” which means The One who takes care. The ceremony was held at the Tribu K’Mindanawan, a tribal village where the heritage of various indigenous cultural communities of Mindanao are showcased, in Davao City on September 17 in the sidelines of the Senator’s trip to the city where she convened the two-day Mindanao Indigenous Peoples’ Assembly. Legarda is the chair of the Senate Committee on Cultural Communities and Committee on Climate Change.
