Beef up DND’s cyber security capability: Sen. Francis Pangilinan stresses the importance of further strengthening the capability of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Department of National Defense (DND) in cyber security and digital technology following the recent move of Facebook to take down a number of Chinese accounts involved in coordinated inauthentic behavior. Pangilinan, during the proposed 2021 budget deliberation of the DND Friday, November 20, 2020, asked if the monitoring of such inauthentic behavior coming from a foreign country is being monitored by the AFP and the defense establishment continuously. Sen Panfilo Lacson, who is defending the DND budget, told Pangilinan that the military has been monitoring such activities. “That is precisely why it is important to support our AFP and DND in having the capability in terms of cyber security and information technology issues and digital technology challenges,” Pangilinan said.(Screen grab/Senate PRIB)
