Open more registration centers in NCR, Calabarzon: Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon urges the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to put up additional voter registration centers in the National Capital Region and Region IV-A or Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (CALABARZON) to be able to accommodate more registrants. Drilon, during a virtual hearing of Finance Subcommittee H on Comelec’s proposed 2022 budget, said aside from being able to accommodate more potential voters, putting up more registration sites would also help unclog other registration centers. Comelec chairman Sheriff Abas said the poll body already opened additional sites in various malls in Metro Manila and nearby provinces to be able to serve more registrants. As of September 30, 2021, there are already 63,678,418 registered voters for the 2022 national and local elections and the poll body expects an additional 350,000 to 500,000 individuals to register by October 31.
