Recto wants more resources for agri sector: Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto says he looks favorably at the budget of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and seeks to provide more resources to the agriculture sector as a whole. During Monday’s hybrid marathon session on the proposed P12.3 billion DAR budget for next year, November 15, 2021, Recto also expressed support for the restoration of the P2.5 billion budget cut in the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) Project which will enable the subdivision of collective certificates of land ownership awards (CCLOA) into individual land titles for agrarian reform beneficiaries. The Senate leader added that since the Committee on Finance is increasing the budget for the health and education sectors and the budget for economic recovery, “considering that the agriculture sector is the laggard in the Philippine economy, it might be necessary to provide more resources to the agriculture sector as a whole.” (Screen grab/Senate PRIB)
