Gordon wants matrix on status of OFWs to be repatriated: Sen. Richard Gordon, during the continuation of the marathon plenary session on the proposed 2022 national budget Tuesday, November 16, 2021, asks the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to submit to the chamber a matrix containing information on the status of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to be repatriated. Gordon made the request after learning that there are more than 60,000 OFWs that have yet to be sent home. “Why were they being sent home? Did they lose their jobs? Were they maltreated? Did they have problems with their contracts? Give us a matrix so that we can easily identify the problems. We really have to address this problem in a holistic manner,” Gordon said. Sen. Joel Villanueva told Gordon that the labor department would comply with the request and submit the matrix. A total of 785,448 OFWs have been repatriated since the pandemic started last year.
