An added layer of security vs crimes: Sen. Grace Poe, chairperson of the Committee on Public Services, hails the approval of Senate Bill No. 2395 on third and final reading Thursday, December 16, 2021. The bill, sponsored by Poe, primarily sought to deter mobile phone, internet, and electronic communication-aided crimes, such as terrorism, scams, bank fraud, and trolling, among several others, by making the registration of subscriber identification module (SIM) cards mandatory. "The measure establishes another layer of security protection for Filipinos which will hopefully deter criminals from perpetrating their wicked plans. It is high time that we beef up our own infrastructures to address these threats to security," Poe said in a speech during today's hybrid plenary session. (Voltaire F. Domingo/Senate PRIB)
