Senate commends Rachel Marcial Donaire: Sen Pia Cayetano sponsors Senate Resolution No. (SRN) 983 commending and congratulating Rachel Marcial Donaire for being the first woman and Filipina to receive the honorary World Boxing Council’s (WBC) trainer belt during the hybrid plenary session Wednesday, January 26, 2022. According to Cayetano, Rachel is the woman behind the defensive strategy of renowned Filipino boxer and her husband Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr., who is a four-division world champion and a three-time bantamweight champion. “She is a living proof that women have the same ability as men to excel in competitive sports and are equally qualified as coaches. Rachel Donaire is a living example of a strong Filipina. She inspires fellow women by her ability to excellently juggle her role as a mother, wife, athlete, manager, strength and conditioning coach and Nonito Donaire’s head coach,” Cayetano said in her sponsorship speech on SRN 983, which was adopted by the chamber.
