Preventing a repeat of the sugar fiasco: Sen. Hontiveros brought up during the CA hearing the sugar fiasco issue involving Bersamin’s predecessor Atty. Vic Rodriguez. “What will you do to prevent a repeat of this situation? What are the rules and procedures you would put in place when it comes to official communications, particularly in the use of video conferencing platforms, emails and SMS messages?” Hontiveros asked in Filipino. In response, Bersamin said he already instituted reforms when it comes to documentation processes to ensure that the message is given to the proper office and ensure accountability in handling important communications.
