VILLAR CONGRATULATES PINOY WORLD POOL CHAMP

Senate President Manny Villar, President of the Nacionalista Party, is all praises for Ronnie Alcano, who bagged the World Pool championship Sunday after beating a highly-rated German cue artist.

Villar expressed elation over Alcanos dramatic victory, which he said, has gain placed the Filipino Nation in the map of world of sports.

Ronnie Alcanos victory is a triumph for the Filipino nation. Ronnie has given another reason for us all to be proud. Iba talaga ang Pinoy! a jubilant Villar said.

The 34-year old Pinoy cue artist captured the coveted World Pool Championship held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila by trouncing the highly-rated Ralf Souquet of Germany.

Paying tribute to Alcano, Villar filed today a resolution congratulating the Pinoy champ and expressing the Filipino peoples jubilation over his victory.

He said that Alcanos dramatic win has captured the imagination of the Filipino people, with his having accomplished what many thought at the beginning as improbable-that of beating the daylights out of a top-rated German cue artist.

Villar said Alcanos win proved once again that the Philippines has deep bench of world class athletes.

Like basketball, billiards is also a favorite of Filipinos especially our youth. Expect Ronnies dramatic win to inspire our athletes to rise above the challenges that came their way and win big for our country, Villar said.
