CITED FOR CONTEMPT: Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago cites Chung Hing Wong (also known as Joseph Wong) for contempt during the Commission on Appointments (CA) hearing on the confirmation of Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) officials on Wednesday, September 7, after the latter opposed the appointment of Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario and threatening to file an ethics complaint against the senator. “You are a Chinese national. For that reason, you have no right to appear as a party in any nomination hearing before this court. You have no right to appear on television and intimidate a senator of the republic,” Santiago said.
