TACKLING THE DEFENSE BUDGET: Senator Panfilo Lacson, chair of the Senate Finance Subcommittee D and Senator Gringo Honasan grilled officials of the Department of National Defense led by Secretary Delfin Lorenzana during a public hearing looking into the agency’s P134.5B budget for 2017. Lacson queried on the effectiveness of the defense capability of the nation upon a possible withdrawal of the United States’ military support from the Philippines.
