Gatchalian hears energy sector budget for 2022: Sen. Win Gatchalian, chairman of Finance Subcommittee E, presides over a hybrid hearing Thursday, October 21, 2021, on the proposed budgets of the Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and National Electrification Administration (NEA) for next year. The proposed budget of the DOE for 2022 is P2.13 billion. The committee also tackled ERC’s P586 million and NEA’s P1.827 billion proposed budgets. “If you look at the budgets of all three (departments), it’s not substantial compared to other government offices. However, there are a lot of policy questions that affect those budgets, and the policy questions actually are the most important aspect of our discussion today because it affects all of us, especially our daily lives,” Gatchalian added.
