Villar questions DENR’s overhead cost: Finance Subcommittee B chairperson Sen. Cynthia Villar presides over a virtual hearing on the proposed P25.3 billion budget of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and its attached agencies on Thursday, October 21, 2021. Villar questions the DENR budget for personal services (PS) and maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE) which she says comprise 75 percent of its total budget. “Is that fair that 75 percent of your budget will go to your overhead while only 25 percent of your budget will go to your projects? You allocated only P1.2 billion to the protected areas. I already told you to adjust your budget since the rule is that 50 percent of your budget should be allocated for your overhead while 50 percent should be for your projects,” Villar stressed.
