Villar wants P2.5 b cut in split project restored: Sen. Cynthia Villar seeks the support of fellow senators in reinstating the P2.5 billion cut in the allocation for the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) Project, which will enable the subdivision of collective certificates of land ownership awards (CCLOA) into individual land titles. Villar, who defended the proposed 2022 Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) budget amounting to P12.3 billion during the hybrid marathon session Monday, November 15, 2021, said the loan from the World Bank was finally granted which will provide a P19.24 billion financial support to the SPLIT project with a P5.38 billion government counterpart for a total of P24.6 billion. “The SPLIT project is crucial in our goal of improving land security tenure and stabilization of property rights of agrarian reform beneficiaries and achieving poverty reduction. It is unfortunate that the House of Representatives in their general appropriations bill sought the cut by P2.599 billion from the SPLIT project. I am asking the support of the Senate in ensuring that the government will be able to deliver what rightfully belongs to our agrarian reform beneficiaries,” Villar said.
