Senate adopts reso commending Hungarian National Assembly: Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri introduces and sponsors Senate Resolution No. 948, commending the National Assembly of Hungary under the leadership of Speaker Laszlo Kover for his key role in strengthening Philippines-Hungary Inter-Parliamentary Relations. Zubiri said senators were honored and humbled by the visit of the Hungarian delegation led by Deputy Speaker Istvan Jakab. “This is such a very opportune time as we celebrate the 48th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Hungary this year,” Zubiri said during plenary session Tuesday, November 16, 2021. He said the Philippines continues to benefit from its trade relations with Hungary and that Filipinos continue to enjoy Hungary’s scholarship program, the Stipendium Hungaricum, which sponsors undergraduate, masters and doctorate studies in the fields of agriculture and sustainable development, medicine, and water management, among others. Zubiri said that the Hungarian delegation’s visit aims to facilitate the highest level of parliamentary dialogue and forge stronger cooperation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). Senate Resolution No. 948 was unanimously adopted with all senators as co-authors of the measure. (Joseph Vidal/Senate PRIB)
