The children, who were born with cleft lip and palate ("bingot"), were among the 59 who were successfully operated this year with the help of Gabriel Symphony Foundation, named after the Senator Pia's son Gabriel Cayetano-Sebastian. Gabriel, who himself had a cleft lip, died at the age of nine months in 2001 due to complications from a rare chromosomal disorder.
