Probe vs doctors, pharma scheme: Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go urges all medical doctors to prioritize the welfare of the patients and not the pharmaceutical company as he announces that the Committee on Health and Demography will conduct a hearing on the alleged multi-level marketing scheme involving a pharmaceutical company. During Monday’s plenary session, April 29, 2024, Go disclosed the involvement of some doctors who allegedly owned a share in the pharmaceutical company and prescribing aggressively to their patients to buy medicines distributed by the latter. “We are conducting this investigation because it is the state's mandate to ensure the integrity of our entire public health system and to assure our people that those given the privilege to exercise their medical profession remain faithful and true to our laws and their ethical standards,” Go said. “Our objective is to uphold ethical standards in the medical profession and protect the rights of patients to appropriate medical care information and informed consent,” he added.
